Building businesses that can outlast their founders.

NorthMark is an Africa-focused advisory firm helping founders, boards and leadership teams build the structures, systems and ways of working that allow businesses to grow with clarity, accountability and resilience.

We help businesses strengthen governance, ethics, leadership, processes and organisational capability so performance does not depend on one-person, informal ways of working or decisions that live only in someone's head.

BUILT FOR AFRICAN BUSINESSES

We understand the context.

We understand that African businesses often grow in environments where relationships, founder influence, regulatory expectations and operational realities can be unpredictable. Our approach is designed to work within that reality. Not to regurgitate conventional ways of governance which may not be ideal in an African setting.

Our dream is to create the right level of structure for African businesses: clear enough to support good decisions, practical enough to be used within a founder’s context, and strong enough to support their next stage of growth.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
01

Good governance should make a business stronger, not more complicated.

02

Ethics should be built into how a business operates, not treated as a separate exercise.

03

Founders should be able to build something that can thrive beyond them.

04

The right systems create clarity, accountability and room for people to perform.

05

Lasting businesses are built deliberately.

OUR APPROACH

Start with the business as it actually operates.

We start with the business as it actually operates. We look at where decisions sit, how work gets done, where accountability is clear or unclear, and which systems need to evolve.

From there, we help leaders identify what needs to change and put practical structures in place - from governance and authority frameworks to policies, controls, leadership systems and ways of working.
